Oil and Gas Ministry announces new system for registering suppliers - JSRS

MUSCAT - The Ministry of Oil and Gas announced yesterday the commencement of Supplier Registration to the Joint Supplier Registration System (JSRS), which was developed and implemented by Business Gateways International, an Omani SME based in Muscat.
The system, which cost about RO 50,000, aims to create a ‘ single window’ for uniform supplier registration process connecting suppliers in Oman and all over the world to the opportunities in oil and gas sector.
The project is totally supported by the In-Country-Value (ICV) Committee, which comprises the Ministry of Oil and Gas, Oman Society of Petroleum Services (OPAL) and other major oil and gas companies in the Sultanate. It is also part of the ICV initiative for oil and gas industry.
Sultan bin Mohammed al Hilali, Director-General of Planning and Studies at the Ministry of Oil and Gas, said the JSRS will help suppliers both Omani and international to connect with oil and gas operators through a seamless process of registration and validation and be placed on the Common Supplier Pool where they will benefit from multiple services connecting them to the business actions in Oman. He pointed out that the Ministry has stopped taking in supplier registrations and are re directing suppliers over to the ‘JSRS’.
Salim al Sibani, CEO of Oman Oil Company for Exploration and Production (OOCEP) affirmed their full support in making this challenging project a flagship reference of Oman’ Oil and Gas Industry’s commitment to the national objective of ICV in Oman.
Hemant Murkoth , CEO of Business Gateways, said ‘ We encourage all suppliers involved in oil and gas industry and also the new supplier entrants at the national and international stage to take advantage of this unique system and be made visible to Oman ‘s oil and gas operators.
He pointed out that suppliers will be taken through a two-stage process of connecting them to the JSRS Pool. Suppliers first connect on the Oman National Business Framework and based on their readiness check will be taken through a detailed validation process before being connected to the JSRS, which is scheduled to go live in April 2014.
