August 12th, 2014
Muscat Ithraawelcomeda senior Iranian business delegation earlier this week. Consisting of seventeen companies operating in food and beverage, minerals and metals, petrochemicals and construction. The visiting delegation met senior Omani public and private sector officials working in trade, investment and manufacturing. “This week’s meetingswill undoubtedly help strengthen bilateral trade and investment relations between Oman and Iran. The site visits organized by Ithraa provided the delegation witha chance to view first-hand the outstanding investment opportunities available in Oman. Going much further much faster on internationalization is key to growing Oman’s economy and bringing more prosperity into our communities. If we’re not selling more to the world, both goods and services, as well as attracting investment then we won’t reach the economic goals we’ve set. I believe it’s been a successful visit and we plan to organize a follow-up trade mission to Iran later this year,” remarked Ithraa’sFaris Al Farsi, Director General of Investment. Ithraa, in co-ordination with government organizations regularly conduct in-depth assessments of Omani products and their potential to penetrate international markets. And in its role as a trade and investment facilitator, Ithraahas organized a number of recent international business matchmaking sessions that have resulted in significant financial returns for the Sultanate’s business community. Nasima Al Balushi, Director General of Export Development at Ithraa said: “Oman’s export development strategy is built on understanding our national products and their competitive advantage which helps us identify international markets and potential points of entry. With a population of76 million, Iran is an interesting market with significant growth prospects. Indeed, it’s a market that many local businessesare keeping a close eye on.”
