Latest Updates and projects related to Operators & Buyers in JSRS
PDO Launches $1 Billion Gas Development Project in Haima Reservoirs
Petroleum Development Oman (PDO) has kicked off a $1 billion gas project targeting the Haima reservoirs — Amin, Miqrat, and Barik — bringing 12 wells online in 2024. The development is set to recover 2.22 billion cubic metres of gas and 0.34 million cubic metres of condensate, strengthening Oman’s energy security and addressing projected gas gaps.
At the same time, PDO is expanding into renewables with a 100 MW solar PV plant and 200 MW of wind projects in partnership with OQ Alternative Energy and TotalEnergies. Together, these projects will generate 1.4 TWh of clean power annually, cutting emissions by over 1 million tonnes per year and advancing Oman’s Net-Zero 2050 goals. Read More
ONGC and BP Partner to Drill Stratigraphic Wells for India’s Energy Security
Oil and Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC) has signed a strategic MoU with BP to drill multiple stratigraphic wells across India’s Category II & III offshore sedimentary basins, including Andaman, Mahanadi, Saurashtra, and Bengal. The partnership, signed in the presence of India’s Petroleum Minister Hardeep Singh Puri during Urja Varta 2025, aims to strengthen the country’s energy security by unlocking untapped hydrocarbon potential.
Under the agreement, ONGC will fund the projects while BP brings its deep-water exploration expertise and advanced seismic technologies to support well design and geological evaluation. The collaboration marks the first in a series of initiatives to enhance India’s hydrocarbon exploration, providing critical data to boost domestic energy reserves. Read More
