BP and Partners to Boost Gas Capacity in Oman

BP, OQ, and local partners have launched a major development plan for Oman’s Block 61 to increase gas production in support of the country’s growing LNG capacity. The project targets up to 2 trillion cubic feet of additional recoverable gas, with Block 61 currently producing 1.5 billion cubic feet per day and 55,000 barrels per day of condensate.

Oman LNG achieved a record 12 million tonnes in 2024, up 15% from the previous year. A new LNG train in Qalhat is expected to produce 3.8 million tonnes per year by 2028, further strengthening Oman’s energy supply. Read More

Eni Moves to Develop New Australian Gas Field

Italian energy major Eni is advancing a standalone offshore development of the Petrel gas field in northern Australia to replace declining output from its Blacktip field. The project will feature an offshore riser platform and a subsea gas export pipeline connecting to the existing Yelcherr onshore processing plant.

Gas and associated liquids will flow through the 100-kilometre, 18-inch pipeline, ensuring steady supply to Australia’s domestic market and supporting energy security in the region. Read More
