Mining conference explores investment opportunity in Oman

More than 200 delegates from various parts of the world discussed various aspects of the mining industry in Oman at a major mining conference in Muscat.

The Mining Investment Middle East and Central Asia conference, the first event to be staged at the newly opened Sheraton Oman, held between October 11 and 13, 2016, discussed how industry players were coping with the volatile commodity prices, capital raising, investment strategies, technical innovations and where the mining industry is headed.

This strategic global mining conference aimed at connecting miners, investors, government officials and service providers for networking, partnering and business matching, according to a press release.

Several presentations were made by Savannah Resources, Alara Resources and Curtis and key speakers at the conference included Dr Fabio Scacciavillani, Chief Strategist of Oman Investment Fund, Willem Middelkoop, Founder of Commodity Discovery Funds and Henry Antwi, Head of Mining and Metals at Oman Oil Company.

Feedback from the delegates was positive. “Everyone I met with had a genuine commitment to mining investment in the region and we saw tangible benefits from our participation in the event,” said Justin Richard, CEO of Alara Resources.

Mining Investment Middle East and Central Asia will return to Muscat from October 16 and 18, 2017 and will continue to build on its strength as a global mining conference to bring international high profile investors and mining companies to Oman to raise awareness on the mining opportunities in the country and Middle East region.

Mining Investment Middle East & Central Asia is organized by Spire Events (Singapore) and is part of the global Mining Investment Series that span across MiddleEast, Asia, Africa, Europe and Latin America.
