Orpic’s aromatics plant achieves milestone

Orpic’s aromatics plant in Sohar has announced the successful completion of seven years of safe operations without any Lost Time Injury (LTI). Over seven years ago, para-xylene was first declared ‘On-Spec’ and safely diverted to the day tank, thereby achieving a major safety milestone. Both events mark a major milestone in the Aromatics Plant’s journey, Orpic said in a statement.

In order to assist and emphasise safety, a wide range of tools have been developed over the years: permit to work, internal/external audits, drills, training/coaching followed by evaluation, adhering to standard operating procedures, developing process safety awareness & culture to name a few.
