The projects of ‘Innovative Software Tool for Individuals with Communication Disabilities’ by Fatma Al Mujainiya, a student, and ‘Design and Development of Painting Machine with Scraper Attachment’ by Dr Vishnupriyan Sethumadhavan qualified for the finals of the OCCI award, organised jointly with The Research Council.
The two projects qualified after competing with three other innovators from North Batinah and Musandam Governorates at Sohar College of Applied Sciences.
In Dhofar Governorate, the evaluation committee announced the ‘Tourist Destination Reader Application’ and ‘Electronic Automatic Aquaculture’ as finalist projects.
The finals will take place in November this year.
OCCI Innovation Award aims to motivate the Omani youth by developing their innovational ideas in the scientific and technical fields, and to transfer those ideas intoproducts and useful services.
The award seeks to develop innovation, and motivate and sustain the co-operation between the components of the community, such as the individuals or institutions of both government and private sectors, and the academic sector in Oman.
A total of 460 innovators applied across the evaluation centres in the award’s first stage.
The top winners of the award at the third stage will have the opportunity to be adapt their ideas in Innovation Park Muscat (IPM) of TRC, as well as get the opportunity to participate in international competitions, in addition to the prize money.
The award covers a range of fields including tourism, energy, food, security, environment, health, IT, industry and logistics.
