Orpic receives Authorised Economic Operator certificate from ROP

Oman Oil Refineries and Petroleum Industries Co (Orpic) received the Authorized Economic Operator (AEO) certificate from the Directorate General of Customs after demonstrating a strong track record of government compliance, processes and systems; providing it with cutting-edge benefits across its supply chain.

Besides security benefits, Orpic will enjoy other trade facilitation advantages such as: Faster cargo clearances at borders, decreased number of customs inspections, international certification and marketing benefits, priority access to inspections and clearances at border crossing points, gain a reputation as a safe and low-risk operator locally and internationally and access to use AEO logo in the marketing processes.

In a press release, Dr Hilal bin Abdullah al Hinai, general manager - corporate support services at Orpic said, “Receiving the AEO certification cements our role as a trusted trading partner that constantly improves supply chain processes, benefiting our long list of customers around the world. It also reinforces Orpic commitment to implementing and streamlining the mandates of the Directorate General of Customs across the business community in Oman.”

“We look forward to growing this partnership and help benchmark business excellence throughout all trading sectors in full alignment with Oman’s 2040 Logistics Strategy,” Dr Hinai added.

Col Khalifa bin Ali al Siyabi, Director General of Customs said, “Orpic comes on top of the certified economic operators in Oman due to its strong track record of customs compliance and security standards. The AEO will enable Orpic to elevate its manufacturing prowess, it will also enhance Orpic Polymer Marketing (OPM) import and export portfolio. The AEO will increase the strategic value of its trade management operations worldwide especially for its polypropylene and polyethylene product brand ‘Luban’.”

The AEO programme was implemented by ROP at the Directorate General of Customs. The globally-recognised certification is in full compliance with the World Customs Organization’s (WCO) standards and the framework developed by the WCO.

It was also supported by the World Trade Organisation’s (WTO) trade facilitation agreement, in order to establish strategic partnerships to ensure security within the business community and facilitate the international supply chain and global trade.

Additionally, the programme contributes to greater cost savings, fewer customs controls, and recognition of recipients as safe and secure business partners globally.
