Role of NBC and Riyada in supporting entrepreneurs highlighted

Owners of start-ups and investable ideas joined together on Tuesday at an open day held by the National Business Centre (NBC), which falls under the umbrella of the Public Establishment for Industrial Estates (Madayn).

The open day, which was organised at NBC in the Knowledge Oasis Muscat, aimed at disseminating awareness on the services offered by NBC and Riyada incubators to budding Omani entrepreneurs.

NBC officials informed the attendees that NBC was inaugurated by Madayn in 2013 in the Knowledge Oasis Muscat to offer Omani entrepreneurs a platform that assists them to develop their business ideas and advance them into growing ventures. The centre offers a premier platform for Omani entrepreneurs by providing business development support and guidance, training and mentoring, access to markets and industry experts, and state-of-the-art and fully equipped office space, meeting rooms and presentation facilities.

The officials also outlined the objectives of NBC to the attending business owners, which include facilitating and supporting the growth of investable ideas into successful businesses; building entrepreneurial skills through dedicated and focused training, coaching and mentoring; and providing business support facilities from office space, administrative support, financial support and consultancy services that are crucial in ensuring the success and survival of new ventures.

The open day event featured success stories of incubated companies in NBC and Riyada incubators. Maktoum Al Muqbali gave a brief on his company – United Launch Platform (Shapeable), which is specialised in the development and design of innovative electrical devices and equipment to be low-cost, high-efficiency commercial products. On his part, Mohammed Al Maskari briefed the audience on his experience with his company – Gain Inbound, which is a social media marketing agency that partners with clients to drive their business outcomes through best-in-class services including branding, social media marketing, consulting and strategy, crisis management, video production, among other services.

The open day event also offered marketing consultancy services to the business owners and those who have innovative ideas and are willing to advance their projects. The consultancy services were delivered by Isra Al Lawati, owner of Mint Marketing, which is a branding agency aiming to introduce the brands in different ways through creative artwork and in-depth research.
