PAM Organises Mining Forum in Salalah

The Public Authority for Mining (PAM) on Monday organised the 1st Mining Forum in Dhofar at Crowne Plaza Salalah, in cooperation with Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry (OCCI).

The forum was organised under the patronage of H E Sayyid Mohammed bin Sultan al Busaidi, Minister of State and Governor of Dhofar.

In his speech at the event, Eng Hilal bin Mohammed al Busaidi, CEO of PAM, stressed the importance of the mining sector, which represents the main building blocks in the advancement and progress of countries.

He highlighted PAM’s efforts in developing the mining sector in the sultanate to exploit the abundance of minerals to achieve the strategic objectives and to create an attractive environment for investment to achieve further growth and progress.

The forum included a presentation entitled ‘Mining: Civilization of Man’, which reviewed the geological history of Oman. The event also included a seminar to discuss the role of mining companies in the development of the sector and its social contribution.

The forum aims at highlighting the investment in the mining sector and its role in the development of the national economy and community development, as well as reviewing the promising mining projects.
