In cooperation with Oman Global Logistics Group (Asyad), Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry (OCCI) organised a workshop that addressed the importance of establishing a special economic zone in the Governorate of Musandam.
Titled ‘The Economic Sector in Musandam: Opportunities and Challenges’, the workshop approached the exceptional business environment the governorate has, required incentives for activating economic activities and mechanism for creating more opportunities for job seekers, a press release said.
The participants exchanged opinions and views on how establishing a special economic zone in Musandam shall contribute to creating more new job opportunities, support economic sustainability, and activate a variety of commercial activities.
Businessmen and entrepreneurs who attended the workshop highlighted the impact of establishing a special economic zone on attracting funds and investments to Musandam governorate.
The initial suggestions given by the majority of participants pointed out to the necessity of establishing free markets, commercial spaces, technology parks and many other activities under the umbrella of the proposed special economic zone.
Furthermore, entrepreneurs and businessmen expressed their request that the Public Establishment for Industrial Estates (Madayn) gives a special attention to the economic situation and reality in Musandam by considering the applicable proposals suggested by the local communities.
