KCA Deutag wins $185Mn contracts in Oman and Saudi Arabia

The UK-based global drilling, engineering and technology services provider, KCA Deutag, has been awarded land drilling contracts worth almost US$185m from leading hydrocarbon exploration and production companies in Saudi Arabia and Oman.

‘Multiple rig extensions have been confirmed in Saudi Arabia, representing 13 years’ work across three rigs, and in Oman, one-year contract extensions have been awarded for two heavy 2000hp rigs,’ KCA Deutag said in a statement on its website.

Simon Drew, president – land drilling at KCA Deutag, said, “These awards are a sign of rising confidence in our core markets as we increase and sustain activity following the COVID-19 pandemic challenges and resulting reduction in oil demand. We have invested significantly in the Middle East and these contract extensions illustrate that our strong operational and technological performance is delivering value for our clients in the region.”

KCA Deutag is one of the world’s leading drilling and engineering contractors working onshore and offshore. It operates approximately 110 drilling rigs in 20 countries, employing staff in Africa, Europe, Russia, the Middle East, the Caspian Sea and Canada.

KCA Deutag’s corporate headquarters are in Aberdeen, UK. The company has a very strong presence in the Middle East where it is one of the largest owners and operators of drilling rigs.
