Omani firms invited to bid for Liwa fishing jetty project

The Ministry of Finance has invited qualified Omani firms to submit their expressions of interest (EOI) to participate in a competitive contract to operate and develop Liwa fishing jetty. The relevant EOI form can be downloaded from the Ministry’s portal. The project will be implemented as a partnership of public and private players (PPP), it added.

“The Finance Ministry looks forward to receiving detailed applications from interested companies, both as individual firms or consortia within specific terms. The deadline for applications is December 27, 2021,” the Ministry noted. As part of the PPP format of the project, the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Water Resources will lease some land near the jetty for the investment targeted at fisheries and food industry sectors.

The Ministry of Finance oversees the application of the Public-Private Partnership Law, which seeks to encourage the private sector to invest in infrastructure, public services and project (establishment and operation) cost-cutting to help ease the pressure on the budget. The programme falls within the purview of Oman Vision 2040 and its goals of generating opportunities for small and medium enterprises and the local business community in the sector of ports.
