TRA, Qatar authority sign Satellite Coordination Pact

The Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (TRA) of Oman has signed an agreement for coordination of satellite networks with the Communications Regulatory Authority (CRA) of Qatar.

The two sides have also signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) for cooperation in spectrum monitoring during Qatar’s hosting of the 2022 FIFA World Cup, exchanging of experiences related to satellite projects, in addition to training and development of Omani and Qatari competencies in the field of radio spectrum monitoring.

Furthermore, the two parties discussed various matters of mutual interest and prospects for future cooperation.

The signing took place on the sidelines of a meeting between CRA representatives and high-level Omani delegation representing the Ministry of Transport and Communications, TRA, and Space Communication Technologies Company at the CRA headquarters.

Representatives from Qatari satellite company Es’hailSat also attended the meeting. The signing of this agreement stems from the joint cooperation that started following an earlier visit by CRA officials to TRA headquarters in Muscat, where the two regulatory bodies signed an MoU to enhance their cooperation in the field of radio spectrum monitoring.
